1,000 Railcars, 100,000 Tons of Waste
|
Earlier this year, the Miamisburg Closure Project at the Mound site in Ohio reached a key milestone. They surpassed 1,000 railcars loaded and shipped to Clive, Utah, for waste disposal. During the shipments, there were no Department of Transportation violations, no Utah Notices of Deficiency, and no injuries! The 1,000 railcars represent the removal of more than 100,000 tons of waste from the site.
The Mound project is being completed by the Portage joint venture, the Accelerated Remediation Company. The project includes soil excavation, waste management, and disposal; verification samples and reports; backfill of the excavation; and complete site restoration. The current project is expected to be completed later this year.
