Since incorporating in 1992, Portage has grown to a staff of more than 400 highly skilled technical and professional personnel. Portage is based in Idaho Falls, Idaho, with satellite offices throughout the country.

Portage's primary service areas are as follows: environmental remediation, including site remediation, cleanup of contaminated buildings, soil, and groundwater, mine sites, D&D support, and construction; engineering, including civil, chemical, environmental, mechanical, and nuclear engineering; hazardous and radioactive waste management, including waste characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal; information technology and custom database design; project management, construction oversight and assessment; environmental planning, permitting, regulatory document preparation, and agency interface, monitoring, and compliance assessment; site characterization; environmental compliance services, including CAA, NEPA, RCRA, CERCLA, and CWA compliance; community involvement and DOE Citizens Advisory Board support; and energy services, including energy program management, comprehensive facility energy audits, and development of energy-saving programs.

Legacy Management Contract Transition
Portage, Inc. is excited about our recent award to support the Department of Energy’s Office of Legacy Management (LM). However, Portage regrets to announce that the award of the LM contract has been protested by one or more unsuccessful bidders. This process usually takes about 90-100 days to resolve. Until such time, Portage has been directed by the Department of Energy to cease transition activities. We look forward to working with you in the future. Portage and Oftedal Form Business Partnership
Portage, Inc., is pleased to announce the formation of a business partnership with Oftedal Construction, Inc., of Miles City, Montana. Oftedal, which is employee owned, is a one of the largest and most experienced contractors in the Northwest, employing more than 250 people.
